Some Information About Me
The Lord has put a desire in my heart to know and love Him from an early age. Whilst I have not always been faithful to Him, He has always been faithful to me.
At the age of seven years, I made my First Holy Communion, where I received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. I remember being very excited to receive Jesus in Holy Communion; I also knew that this was a significant moment and would help me to become closer to Him.
At the age of fourteen years I was ‘Confirmed’ in the Catholic Church and received the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. In preparation for my Confirmation, I recall learning about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, but what I remember most are the prayers that I learned to say to the Holy Spirit.
Here are a couple of them:
“Holy Spirit, come and shine, on our souls, with beams divine, issuing from Your radiance bright. Come, O Father of the poor, ever bounteous of Your store, come our heart’s unfailing light.”
“At the beginning of a new day, I give You glory and praise, my God. I thank You for this day, I offer You all that it brings. Dear Jesus, please help me to respond to Your Holy Spirit leading and guiding me. Amen.”
Whilst growing up as a child, I came to know about Mary too. My mum prayed the Rosary at home with my sister and me, and my junior school was called St Mary’s, so I learnt a lot about Our Lady there. I always wanted to be like Mary, maybe because she is close to God, and I wanted to be close to Him too. I came to know God the Father as my ‘Father’ and Mary as my ‘Mother’ - “There is your mother” (John 19:27).
During my years at university, I met one of my closest friends now, who is a Pentecostal Christian. She introduced me to ‘Praise and Worship’ music. The first ‘worship’ albums that I bought were by Darlene Zschech and Rachael Lampa. From then on, I was captivated by ‘worship’ music; I always loved music anyway, but there was something about ‘worship’ music that enabled me to be intimate with God in another way. My friend also questioned me a lot about my Catholic faith, and I didn’t always have the answers to the questions she asked me. Now, I’m glad that she asked those questions, because it stirred up a desire in me to know more about and to understand my faith as a Catholic Christian.
After university, another close friend, asked me to sing backing vocals for a Christian worship band called ‘Hopefuture’ that aimed to promote unity amongst Christians in our local area. Hopefuture was named after the Bible verse Jeremiah 29: 11, “For I know what My plans for you are, plans to save you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and to give you hope.”
It was at ‘Hopefuture’ that I learned how to praise and worship God through music; and how to pray to God from the heart aloud! The first time I prayed to Jesus from the heart out loud, I felt such a peace and warmth flood my being, and I felt Him to be very close!
It was during the time of my being in ‘Hopefuture’, that our Lord blessed me with the songs that you will hear on this website and on the CD. I am very grateful to our Lord for everything that He has given to me. All is by His grace and His grace alone. When you seek the Lord, you will find Him.
“When you call on Me, I will listen. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29: 12 – 13).
